About the Event
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course is an 8-hour beginner-friendly class designed to give students a safe, structured introduction to handgun ownership and use. This course is ideal for new shooters, first-time pistol owners, and adults who want to build a stronger foundation in firearm safety, handling, and marksmanship.
Students will learn the core knowledge and skills covered in the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting program, including firearm safety rules, revolver and semi-automatic pistol operation, ammunition basics, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, range safety, and basic pistol maintenance. The course also includes live-fire range training, a student examination, and a standardized shooting qualification.
This is not an advanced defensive shooting course. It is a true fundamentals class built to help students become safer, more confident, and more capable with a pistol from the ground up in a structured learning environment.
